David Cook and Ronnie Milsap join Corn Palace Festival Schedule

David Cook

Just one week after being named the winner of the seventh season of "American Idol," 25-year-old David Cook rewrote chart history, with a record-breaking 14 debuts on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs survey. He also had 11 songs jump onto the Hot 100, the highest number of new entries ever, and the second-highest amount of simultaneous hits since the Beatles in 1964. All that, and his single, "The Time of My Life," instantly became the highest debuting title of 2008, entering the Hot 100 at No. 3.  David had another follow up smash hit with his single, "Light On." David Cook will be performing at the Corn Palace Festival on Saturday, August 29, 2009.

Ronnie MilsapIt's rare that an artist with more than four decades of accolades to his credit would continue to seek out new challenges, but that's precisely what country soul legend Ronnie Milsap has done with "Then Sings My Soul: 24 Favorite Hymns and Gospel Favorites," his first foray into gospel music. With over thirty #1 singles, this is sure to be an evening full of hits.  Some of Ronnie's past hit singles include, "In Love," "Lost in the Fifties Tonight (In the Still of the Night)," "I Wouldn't Have Missed It For the World," and "Stranger In My House." Ronnie Milsap will perform on Sunday, August 30, 2009.

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Joan JettFew artists boast a wider appeal than Joan Jett. Beloved by classic rockers, punks, indie rockers, pop lovers, and conservatives, she is an American rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and actress. Jett began her music career at the age of 15 and since then has released nine Top 40 hit singles and eight Platinum and Gold records. Jett is most well-known for her hit song, "I Love Rock 'n Roll," but this rocker shows no signs of slowing down.

Catch Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' explosive performance at the Corn Palace Festival on Friday, August 28, 2009.

Blake Shelton to Headline 2009 Corn Palace Festival

Blake SheltonOne of country music’s top male artists - Blake Shelton - has confirmed to play the 2009 Corn Palace Festival.  Shelton will perform at the Corn Palace on Wednesday, August 26.  All seats will be reserved and tickets for this incredible performer will go on-sale Saturday, December 6 at 8 a.m. at the Corn Palace box office and online at the Corn Palace Festival online store. Blake Shelton wrote songs as a teenager and honed his performing style as he played honky-tonk bars and became a regular on a local country music show.

At 17, Shelton met songwriter Mae Boren Axton ("Heartbreak Hotel"). She had returned to her Oklahoma roots for a tribute show honoring her in Ada. Shelton was part of the entertainment lineup and Axton told him to move to Nashville if he wanted a successful country music singing career. Two weeks out of high school in 1994, he packed his guitar and headed there. In 1997, he was co-writing with a friend who tipped off songwriter/producer Bobby Braddock, who co-wrote the standards "He Stopped Loving Her Today," "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" and "Time Marches On," among others. Braddock ultimately served as the producer for Shelton's self-titled debut on Warner Bros. Nashville. His debut single, "Austin," stayed at No. 1 on Billboard's singles chart for five weeks, tying Billy Ray Cyrus' record for a debut single. Shelton also reached No. 1 for three weeks with "The Baby" in 2003.

In 2004, he released the studio album Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill, which included the hits "Some Beach," "Goodbye Time" and "Nobody But Me." Shelton's fourth album, Pure BS, was issued in 2007, and re-issued in 2008 with a cover of Michael Bublé's song "Home" as one of the bonus tracks. This cover was also that album's third single. A fifth album, Startin' Fires, was released in November 2008. Overall, Shelton has charted a total of fourteen singles on the country charts, including four Number One hits: "Austin" (2001), "The Baby" (2003), "Some Beach” (2004-2005), and "Home" (2008). Besides these, he has charted two more Top Ten hits in the #10, "Goodbye Time" and the #4 "Nobody but Me".
